Policemen misbehaving with citizens will be shown the door: SSP

Author: Staff Report

A courteous and decent attitude is the only way to ensure friendly police ecology and those police officials misbehaving with the citizens would not be tolerated in the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) force, said Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed while addressing a meeting convened to review the performance of ITP force.

The SSP issued directions to all the officials to ensure friendly policing environment in the city. He said that courteous and decent attitude with public was the first slogan and those police officials violating it would be sent packing.

The SSP reviewed the ongoing efforts to educate the road users about safety tips and traffic laws. He directed to bring further improvement in these efforts and ensure sobriety while educating and interacting with the citizens. “In case of any complaint about misbehavior of police officials with citizens, strict disciplinary action will be taken and those involved will not be tolerated in the department,” he said.

He said that the citizens should be educated more about e-ticketing process and issues related to the system should be resolved if any. He stressed for educating road users through airing programs on ITP FM Radio 92.4 and programs by special education teams.

The SSP asked SPs and DSPs to specify time to listen complaints of the citizens. He said that citizens’ complaints should be resolved on priority basis. He said that those adopting sluggish approach in resolving complaints of citizens would have to face strict disciplinary action. He also appealed the citizens to follow the traffic rules and cooperate with the traffic police for a safe road environment in the city.
