Commissioner directs DCs to provide polling staff necessary logistic support

Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Sualeh Ahmad Faruqui, on Sunday, directed all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to ensure that the election commissioners were provided with polling staff and necessary logistical support for the upcoming elections.

“All logistics support must be ensured according to the direction and guidelines issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP),’ said Faruqui while chairing a meeting regarding the arrangements underway for the general election 2018.

During the meeting, arrangements being made to facilitate the process of polls were reviewed. Faruqui, on the occasion, said that it was important to ensure that the polling staff was provided with necessary logistical support and that the directives issued by the ECP were being followed.

He said that all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) should fully follow the instructions of the ECP for the arrangement of peaceful and transparent elections.

All the DCs then briefed the commissioner about the arrangements made by them with regard to providing polling staff and logistic support to the election commissioners.

The meeting decided that code of conduct issued by the ECP would be fully implemented and in this regard monitoring committees, headed by the DCs would be activated by them immediately.

The commissioner then asked the deputy commissioners to hold meeting in their respective districts to apprise of the responsibilities and duties to the committees.

He said they should ensure that the monitoring committees follow the directions and guidelines issued by the ECP in true spirits.

Regional Election Commissioner Ali Asgher Siyal, all the DCs, Karachi Additional Commissioner Mohammad Ali Shah, Local Government Director Farooq Siddiqui and others attended the meeting.
