The plea maintains that the RO rejected the nomination papers against facts, therefore his verdict should be annulled. The further proceedings of the case will be held on June 25. On Friday, the appellate tribunal had issued notices to the ECP and the RO following Imran Khan’s plea challenging the rejection of his nomination papers from Islamabad’s NA-53 constituency.
Abdul Wahab Baloch, a candidate of the Justice and Democratic Party (JDP) headed by former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, has challenged the eligibility of Imran Khan to contest the general election due to Sita White scandal.
Meanwhile, hearing was also held on the petition filed by former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi against the rejection of his nomination papers from NA-57 constituency. Former PM’s lawyer Tahir Abbasi appeared before the court and requested time for the preparation of the case. The court approved the request.
Meanwhile, hearing against the approval of Maryam Nawaz’s nomination papers in PP-173 was held at the Lahore High Court (LHC). The petitioner adopted the stance that the RO accepted the papers contrary to the specifics. The appeal was rejected after being termed inadmissible.
