75 fresh medical officers appointed at various hospitals in Upper Dir

UPPER DIR: District Health Officer (DHO) Upper Dir Dr Abid Hussain Wednesday said that 75 fresh medical officers (MOs) had been appointed on vacant posts in various hospitals of the Upper Dir district after which shortage of the doctors in Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centers (RHSs) had ended.

Talking to journalists in Dir, he said that he wanted to serve the masses of the district and especially of the par off areas of the Upper Dir.

“We have hired some doctors to ensure healthcare facilities to patients in the state-run hospitals in the district,” he added.

Dr Abid Hussain said that after ending shortage of doctors in BHUs and RHCs the health department is planning to start evening out-patient department (OPD) in those hospitals in the district. The DHO admitted that though they had appointed MOs in the hospitals however vacancies of the specialist doctors and technicians are still vacant in those category-D hospitals including Patrak, Brawal and Wari.

However there was being made efforts to overcome shortage of the specialists and technicians in those health centers.

The DHO said that the category-D hospitals including Wari, Sheringle, Barawal and Bibyawars had then been fully functioned. He said that many female doctors had also been appointed in those health facilities to examine the woman patients.

He said that he was trying his level best as a DHO to provide each and every facility to the people of par away and comparatively back ward areas at their door step.

The DHO said that there was used to be huge rush of patients in the lone DHQ hospital as people across the district were coming to that owing to there was no health facility in par away areas of the district including remote Kohistan valley, Usheri dara, Nrhag dara and other areas. “Now DHQ hospital Dir will get relaxation in burden of patients,” said Dr Hussain.

He said that any negligence in the line of duty would not be tolerated.
