Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri on Saturday said that his party would not contest the general elections 2018 set to be held on July 25.
Qadri made this announcement during a press conference in Lahore. “Everything which is being done on the name of democracy is wrong,” he said adding that his party doesn’t want to be the part of this process.
Apparently hinting towards Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan, Qadri said some political leaders had adopted double standards.
When asked about boycotting the elections, the PAT chief said he didn’t use the word “boycott”. “I am very particular about choice of my words. As I earlier said, my party will not contest the elections,” he said.
It is to be noted that the PAT had boycotted the previous two general elections—2013, 2008.
