Success of societies is linked to pursuit of education: governor

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that success of societies is closely linked to the pursuit of education and knowledge which their young generations are following.

To make efficient development of the country possible, he added, we need to appreciate the talent and merit and utilize all the available resources and potential.

He expressed these views while talking at the ceremony arranged in honour of a group of gold medalists of Gandhara University here at Governors House, Peshawar on Wednesday.

The ceremony was also attended by Mrs. Roeeda Kabir, Chancellor, Gandhara University, Prof Dr. Abdussalam, Vice Chancellor of the University, Faculty Members, gold medalists and their parents.

The Governor while appreciating the achievements of the gold medalists said that there is no dearth of talent in our province and the only need is to support and encourage them.

He said education plays a pivotal role in the progress and prosperity of societies and nations. The teachers, he said, can play pivotal role in the development of any society.

“It cannot be without the great efforts of the great teachers that the students have come up with these excellent results. If you have good teachers you will get good graduates”, he added.

He congratulated the gold medalists and said that their achievements are also a source of pride and honor to their parents and worthy teachers. He urged the graduates to march ahead with courage and confidence and win an honorable position for them and for beloved country through their future endeavour.

Governor further stressed that the government; the parents of students and the society as a whole have great expectations to the graduating professionals and hoped that all of them will come up to their expectations.

Meanwhile Director General Audit, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Javed Iqbal called on the Governor KP Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra here at Governor’s House, Peshawar on Tuesday.

He remained with the Governor for some time and apprised him of the working of the organization. He also presented annual report 2016-17 of the organization to the Governor on this occasion.
