Disgruntled members of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) continued their sit-in protest outside Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence against the distribution of party tickets on the fifth day on Friday.
Party activists from PP-170 Lahore and PK-60 Charsadda joined the already protesting members of NA-154 Multan.
Workers from PP-170 are demonstrating against allotting ticket to the brother of Imran Khan’s political secretary Aun Chaudhry. Likewise, the activists from Multan are not ready to leave without receiving a ticket for Malik Ahmed Dehar. The protesting members have vowed not to back off until the true party activists receive the tickets.
On Thursday, some irate party leaders including Hamid Khan presented a charter of demands at a meeting in Islamabad over the issue of tickets. They termed award of tickets to some of the candidates as sheer injustice. In the charter of demands, they insisted on setting up a transparent board for reconsideration of award of tickets to the party candidates. They demanded that party tickets should be awarded to all those who contested the 2013 general election on PTI tickets. They also demanded a ban on contesting elections from more than one constituency.
