PPP demands removal of interim interior minister

Author: News Desk

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Saeed Ghani has demanded the removal of caretaker Interior Minister Azam Khan.

In a statement, Ghani said that Azam Khan has been exposed in the case of Zulfi Bukhari. “It is not a secret now that Interior Minister Azam Khan has soft corner for PTI and is working to facilitate it. How an individual could be appointed on a very sensitive post when he is openly siding with one political party and can easily influence and use government machinery to benefit a particular political party,” he asked.

Ghani said that another PML-N member, Marvi Memon, continues to work as chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) despite reservations expressed by the PPP. “Reports are that Marvi is pressurizing her staff to work in support of PML-N, which is unethical and amounts to pre-poll rigging. Elections cannot be free and fair if individuals like Azam Khan and Marvi Memon continue to occupy important, influential and sensitive positions in the government,”he maintained.
