Greenback remains firm in value versus rupee

KARACHI: The dollar closed on steady note in value against the rupee in the interbank and open market, treasurers and currency dealers said. It started the day’s thin trading at Rs 120.25 for buying, with 85 paisas variation in value closed at Rs 121.10 for buying and Rs 121.30 for selling in interbank. The euro witnessed firm trend against rupee as it started day’s trading at Rs 138.45 for buying, closed at Rs 140 for buying and closed at Rs 140 for selling after gaining Rs 1.55 paisas. The pound sterling remained firm against local currency as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 158.53 for buying and closed at Rs 158.73 for buying and Rs 158.93 for selling after gaining Rs 1.10.

Open market: The dollar remained plus against the rupee, dealers said. It started day’s trading at Rs 123.25 for buying and closed at Rs 124 for buying after gaining 75 paisas in value and stood at Rs 124.10 for selling. The euro remained firm versus the rupee as it started the day’s trading at Rs 141.50 for buying, with Re 1 change in value it closed at Rs 142 for buying and at Rs 142.20 for selling. The pound sterling remained firm against the rupee as it started the day’s trading at Rs 161.50 for buying, closed after 75 paisas change closed at Rs 162 for buying and closed at Rs 162.20 for selling.
