LARKANA: The Sindh High Court (SHC) judges including Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar and Justice Khadim Hussain Tunio, along with Larkana district and sessions judge (DSJ) Justice Abdul Naeem Memon, on Wednesday paid a surprise visit to Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Reportedly, they expressed dissatisfaction over non-availability of essential medical equipment and facilities including medicines and poor standard of hygiene.

Meanwhile, they visited Accident and Emergency Centre, Paediatric Medicine Hospital (Institute of Child Health), Shaikh Zayed Hospital for Women and other departments.

The judges inquired about the health of admitted patients and asked their attendants about the facilities being provided to them. The patients lodged complaints about the shortage of medicines, improper behavior of doctors and paramedics towards patients.

Consequently, the judges ordered medical superintendent Dr Ali Gohar Dahri to appear before the court in Larkana on Thursday (today) along with relevant documents.

CMCH, the largest teaching hospital of upper Sindh province with 1500-bed capacity, has been undergoing multifarious issues including mismanagement, ghost and absconding employees who possess support of influential officers, shortage of medics, nurses and paramedics, essential medical equipment and instruments.

Despite the allocation of millions of rupees in the annual budget, the provincial government did not take effective measures for improvement of healthcare services in the Sindh province.

In fact, health and education sectors were highly neglected during PPP’s tenure in Sindh.

The people of Larkana stressed on reshuffling the entire CMCH staff and monitoring the administrative hierarchy properly, and claimed that otherwise there would be no improvement.
