Reportedly, he was declared a proclaimed offender in an FIR lodged against him for an attack that occurred on May 1, 2013 when Jatoi was busy in an election campaign.
According to police sources, the accused was identified as Khalid Hussain Magsi, a resident of Jhal Magsi area of Balochistan province.
He would be produced before Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) in Shikarpur district.
The suicide bomber identified as Abdul Rasheed Khoso rammed his motorcycle into the vehicle of Jatoi and blew himself up at Khanpur-Shikarpur Indus highway when Jatoi was on his way to Shikarpur for conducting an election campaign.
However, Jatoi survived, but his bulletproof vehicle was completely destroyed.
Allah Wadhayo Badani Jatoi, a complainant on behalf of Dr Ibrahim Jatoi, lodged a case against six alleged terrorists including the suicide bomber Abdul Rasheed Khoso, Abdul Razaque Khoso, Shahid Ali Naich, Khalid Hussain Magsi and two other unidentified suspects under Anti-terrorism Act at New Faujdari Police Station.
Besides, ATC has awarded life imprisonment to the convicted Abdul Razaque Khoso. He was arrested soon after the attack.
The Shikarpur Police have arrested Khalid Hussain Magsi after five years while his accomplices are still at large. Meanwhile, further investigation is underway.
