Sir: Monsoon is almost upon us, meaning that the whole country will be dotted with puddles very soon. This, combined with the generally humid weather creates an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes.
If preventative action is not taken, dengue fever could rear its ugly head once more, resulting in needless death, suffering and medical expenditure. Like always, it would be the poor who would be most affected.
The authorities must take action in this regard. Furthermore, the citizenry should also fulfil its responsibilities and ensure that they do not allow puddles to form in or around their homes.
