CHITRAL/KARACHI: Nomination papers of ex-president Pervaiz Musharraf for NA-1 and ex-MQM(P) convener Farooq Sattar for NA-235 were rejected by the Returning Officer on Tuesday.
Musharraf had earlier filed nomination papers to contest from NA-1 Chitral but his documents were rejected considering his lifetime disqualification.
All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Secretary General Dr Amjad submitted his nomination papers for the same constituency which were approved.
Speaking to the media, Amjad said that APML supremo Musharraf’s papers were rejected due to his lifetime disqualification, but the party will not boycott the elections. He added that the ex-president wants to return to Pakistan but hurdles are being placed in his way.
On the other hand, ex-MQM(P) convener Farooq Sattar’s nomination papers for NA-245 were also rejected.
According to details, Sattar did not appear before the Returning Officers for scrutiny of his nominations. The police submitted a report about Sattar saying that numerous cases has been registered against him and that Sattar is also declared an absconder by the court.
The RO criticised Sattar for not appearing before him and for not mentioning about the cases registered against him, and to this end, rejected Sattar’s nomination papers.
