Khawaja Hassan, who is Orange Line Steering Committee chief, was directed to appear before the anti-corruption watchdog on June 20.
The NAB had earlier summoned former chief minister Shehbaz Sharif in the Saaf Pani scam on June 24 after he skipped the previous hearing.
According to sources, the anti-graft body had collected “sufficient proofs of Khawaja Hassan’s interference in the Saaf Pani Scheme by allegedly awarding contracts to his blue-eyed persons in violation of merit”.
Sources added that many significant decisions regarding disposal of garbage were made under the supervision of Hassan.
It might be mentioned that the NAB had launched a probe into alleged irregularities worth Rs 56 billion in 56 companies established by the previous PML-N-led Punjab government.
The companies have been accused of certain irregularities in recruitments and non-completion of various projects in time.
Khawaja Hassan, one of most confident aides of Shehbaz Sharif, will contest upcoming general elections for National Assembly’s constituency NA-130 (Lahore-VIII) against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Shafqat Mehmood Khan.
