Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has demanded suspension of all officers involved in the Model Town Killings to hold free, fair and transparent general elections under the Article 10-A of the constitution.

The PAT head was addressing a media conference on the fourth anniversary of Model Town tragedy on June 17 at the party secretariat on second day of Eid. He lamented that those responsible for the Model Town killings could not be arrested even after four years.

He went on to say that it was a constitutional responsibility of the caretaker government to dispense justice to victims along with holding fair elections.

“According to the constitution, it is necessary that the officials responsible for Model Town killings should be removed for a fair trial.”

He held Sharif brothers and their aides (former ministers) responsible for the Model Town carnage and added that they should be tried in the court of law. He said Sharif brothers were never asked about the murder of 14 innocent people of Minhajul Quran despite there were several sound proofs against them.

He said that the Sharifs had not only backed but also awarded those responsible for Model Town killings with high ranks, including posting at top slots.

He said that the PAT workers and heirs of victims would continue their struggle against oppressors. He added that blood of martyrs of Model Town would not be wasted and responsible authorities would be punished.
