FAISALABAD: Police arrested a man who allegedly shot and killed a woman on June 9 for rejecting his marriage proposal. The assailant was remanded for four days in police custody.
Bus hostess Mahwish Arshad was mercilessly shot and killed by Umer Daraz, whose marriage proposal was repeatedly refused by her.
According to police, Umer Daraz and Mahwish had already worked in a different travel company as well. Since that time, he was pressurising Mahwish to marry him and latter repeatedly refused the proposal.
A related video before murder has also gone viral on social media in which Mahwish and Umer are exchanging heated words to each other. It is visible that the latter pushed Umer away when he forcefully gripped her wrists and attacked her during a bus ride.
In the video, Umer can be heard menacing Mahwish and saying, “You’ll see what I would do when you get to the [bus] terminal.”
Afterwards, a CCTV footage showed how Mahwish was shot by Umer when she was climbing the steps of a deserted bus terminal. Mahwish tried to free herself but was shot and left bleeding at the steps.
