MAKKAH: A heart-wrenching incident spread fear and chaos in Makkah’s Grand Mosque as a Bangladeshi man committed suicide today.

According to the officials, the man jumped off the roof of the Grand Mosque and died on spot when the worshippers were circumambulating around the sacred edifice.

Rescue authorities said that the deceased had jumped off and fell upon an elderly Sudanese man who was praying, causing him several fractures and serious injuries.

The injured was rushed to the nearby Ajyad hospital from where he was shifted to Noor Hospital for further treatment.

According to the authorities, the incident was a suicide rather than an accident as the closed- circuit television (CCTV) footage clearly shows that the man jumped off the roof.

Earlier a similar incident had take place on June 9 as a Frenchman had committed suicide by  jumping off Makkah’s Haram Sharif’s roof.

This is the second incident reported within a week’s gap at one of the holiest places, which has aroused questions over the suicide attempts.
