Sir: As always, nepotism continues to thrive in Pakistan. Perhaps it was naïve of me to think that one man could change how things are in this country. Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan became the political force he is today by promising that he was different, and that he would always hold himself, his allies and his party members accountable before the same law that applies to all citizens of Pakistan.
Sadly, the recent incident when Imran Khan made phone calls to higher ups so that his friend and ally Zulfi Bukhari could go abroad despite being on the Exit Control List (ECL) shows that he plans to deliver nothing new. This is something PTI supporters should think about before they go to the polls. Are they voting for PTI because they think it can deliver change? Or are they simply falling victim to Imran Khan’s cult of personality?
