UP rallies against annulment of NAB laws

SUKKUR: United Party (UP) Sukkur chapter and members of civil society took out a rally against the annulment of National Accountability Ordinance 1999 by Sindh government. Sindh cabinet has unanimously approved and repealed National Accountability Ordinance and proposed amendments in the ordinance to get it approved by Sindh Assembly. Protesters told that measures to combat corruption being a concurrent subject in Constitution of 1956 and has now been repealed by Sindh government to conceal alleged corruption of its ministers and cabinet members. Addressing the rally, UP leader Zafar Mirani said that Bill had been repealed to save powerful individuals of ruling party who were accused of corruption. Another UP Sukkur chapter leader Munawar accused the ministers on tabling the Bill as a number of Sindh Assembly members and ministers of PPP were wanted people by National Accountability Bureau.

“UP leadership will go to the courts and take to the streets, and in this regard Jalal Mehmood Shah, Chairman of the party would announce province wise protest and rallies against the annulment, said a UP leader Eidan. UP leader told that the Bill has been tabled a few days after NAB announced it would expand the scope of its investigation against alleged corruption and irregularities in different departments of Sindh They said that corruption has weakened the foundation of the country and all records of corruption have been broken in the tenure of inefficient PPP led government. The society is being governed by corrupt rulers who were allegedly looting national resources, UP leaders were of the view.
