Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister Pervez Khattak and Awami National Party (ANP) leader Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour were Wednesday found defaulters of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).
Both of them were named in the list prepared by the gas company and forwarded to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The list mentions names of total 268 election hopefuls, a bulk of whom is CNG station owners.
The biggest defaulter on the list, as per the report, is Amjad Khan Afridi – a former MPA of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf – who was expelled from the party. He owes the SNGPL Rs 216,295,485.
Bilour, the erstwhile minister for railways and among the more notable names on the list, owes Rs 144,670,715, whereas the outstanding amount pertaining to PTI leader Khattak stands at Rs 106,575,071 in one case and Rs 82,422,320 in another.
Former religious affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi is also on the SNGPL list. He owes Rs 31,500.
SNGPL’s list of defaulters comes a day after the State Bank of Pakistan red-flagged more than 100 candidates and declared their particulars entered on their poll nomination papers “extremely dubious”.
