Youth commits suicide over ‘minor’ issue in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: A youth committed suicide on Wednesday over ‘trivial’ domestic issue in Qila Dedar Singh, a town of Gujranwala district in Punjab.

Reportedly, 28-year-old Waqas quarrelled with his parents, and consequently swallowed poison.

He breathed his last while he was rushed to DHQ hospital.

Child injured in road accident

A seven-year-old child was injured by a motorist while he was playing in a street in Kangi-Wala in Gujranwala.

Reportedly, Burhan was stunting one-wheeling on his motorcycle when he broke Abu Bakar’s leg. Meanwhile, a Rescue 1122 team has shifted him to DHQ hospital.

Two dead, six injured

At least two people were killed while six others were left injured in a road accident in Kamoki city of Gujranwala district.

Reportedly, a passenger-bus rammed into truck while it was travelling to Lahore.

Resultantly, two men died at the spot while six others including women and children were shifted to THQ hospital in Kamoki.

Citizens protest against police

Dozens of citizens held a protest against Ladhewala police in front of the city police officer’s (CPO) office for not taking action against the accused involved in an assault case.

The protesters alleged that accused persons entered in their houses and opened fire on them.

Meanwhile, the Ladhewala police station SHO and investigation officer did not take any action against the accused persons.

The protesters dispersed peacefully after police officials assured them of an early action.

Land record officer arrested

An anti-corruption team on Wednesday arrested a land record officer (Patwari) red handed while taking bribe at Pasrur sub-division in Gujranwala district.

Reportedly, a citizen namely Amjad Ali filed an application to anti-corruption department accusing land record officer Fayyaz of demanding bribe for issuance of his property record.

Following the directives of anti-corruption director, Sialkot circle officer raided and arrested Fayyaz red handed while taking Rs 5000 from Amjad.
