Sir: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has done well by rejecting the Milli Muslim League’s (MML) registration as a political party.
The MML’s links with banned groups and individuals accused of terrorism would make it a disaster if they ever ran in the elections. Pakistan is already in a lot of trouble because of its grey listing by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). If we do not get our act together when it comes to dealing with banned groups, we could even be blacklisted.
Apart from that, such groups only create hate and discord in society. If a party managed to secure a presence in the National Assembly, the damage it could cause would be irreversible.
