The distribution ceremony was organized at the PRCS National Headquarters here where Kuwait Ambassador Nassar Al Mutairi was the chief guest, says a press release issued by the organisation.
PRCS Chairman Dr Saeed Elahi, a delegate of Kuwait Red Crescent Society, PRCS’s staff and volunteers were also present on the occasion.
Each ration packet weighing 61kg consisted of flour, sugar, rice, lentils, ghee, sugar, tea and salt.
Speaking on the occasion, Kuwait Ambassador Nassar Al Mutairi said Kuwait had decades-long brotherly ties with Pakistan and “we are proud of this relationship that has strengthened with the passage of time.” He said the Kuwait government and people will continue to support different human welfare initiatives of the PRCS.
Dr Saeed Elahi said that it was a matter of immense joy and satisfaction for the Pakistani nation that the hearts of Kuwaiti people beat for them. He said that PRCS distributed Ramzan food packages among deserving people and organized Iftar dinners in different cities of the country.
He expressed his gratitude to the partner national societies, including the Kuwait Red Crescent and Turkish Red Crescent, for their support to the PRCS during the holy month of Ramazan.
The PRCS together with the support of Kuwait Red Crescent and Turkish Red Crescent Societies and the telecom partners has distributed Ramzan package among 62,000 deserving persons during the holy month in different districts of the country. Ramazan package were distributed in Lahore, Attock, Neelum, Bhimber, Haveli, Forward Kahuta, Gilgit, Skardu and agencies of FATA including South Waziristan, North Waziristan, Khyber, Orakzai and Kurram.
Underprivileged: The PTCL’s in-house volunteer force ‘PTCL Razakaar’ hosted community Iftars nationwide, whereby spreads were laid out for people at mosques, hospitals, old age homes and labour communities. The company was able to reach out to approximately 13,000 underprivileged people across the country in far flung areas like Sorange in Balochistan, Ghalla Mandi in Punjab, Tharparkar in Sindh and DI Khan in KP, besides travelers and less privileged people in the heart of cities such as Clock Tower in Faisalabad.
The initiative spread smiles across people tending to their ailing family members at Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, DHQ and Lady Hospital in DI Khan, Civil Hospital Gujranwala, DHQ Hospital Khanewal, Nishtar Hospital Multan and the Civil Hospital in Larkana. Community members of Rawalpindi and Islamabad were reached out through distribution of lunchboxes by mobile vans.
Effort were made to personally reach out to the most deserving persons hence living up to the true spirit of the month and the Ramzan Mehman Drive.
The largest Iftar meal was laid out at the Faisal Mosque in Islamabad where around 1,000 visitors were treated and served by the volunteers. Iftars were also hosted at the Jamia Masjid in Larkana, Gujrat and Abbottabad. This is the second year of the Razakaar program. Approximately 600 volunteers registered under the drive are regularly engaged in community service initiatives.
