Inquiry ordered against two CDA employees over demanding bribe

Author: Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad Asad Mehboob Kiani has ordered an inquiry against two employees of the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) over demanding bribe from a poor citizen.

Inquiry was ordered on a complaint filed by a citizen named Saeed Ahmed, who accused supervisor Sagheer and storekeeper Saadullah of DMA for demanding bribe, black mailing and threatening for dire consequences.

“I was busy on posting pamphlets on walls near ‘Tramari Chowk’, when Mr. Sagheer asked me to provide the papers of my motorcycle. I gave him the documents than he asked me that you are violating the rules and regulations and liable to punishment”, the complaint stated.

“I requested him to return my documents, but he refused and asked me to give bribe. I am a poor man and did not give him bribe money. In result, he confiscated my bike and shifted it in the storeroom of DMA. Later on, I have paid Rs.2000 fine on the orders of Director DMA Ali Sufyan, but nobody gave me receipt of payment even I asked for that”, the complainant further alleged.

He requested to probe the matter and fix the responsibility on involved elements. The inquiry has been marked to the Staff Officer of the Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad Rasheed Ahmed, who was directed to submit the report on urgent bases.

It is pertinent to mention here that Islamabad is with full of unauthorised advertisements but the officials of the DMA are involved in such tiny issues.

When contacted Director DMA Ali Sufian has failed to quote a specific law under which the motorbike of a poor person was locked for three days illegally.
