Terrorism would be completely eliminated: GOC Malakand

DIR: The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Malakand Maj General Ali Aamir Awan vowed that terrorism would be completely eliminated from the country and they would not be allowed to re-organise themselves. He asked people of the area to keep a vigil eye on terrorist’s presence in their area because they could inter in the area after melting snow from mountains.

He was addressing to the village defense committees, leaders in 26-brigade headquarters in Panakot on Saturday. Malak Haji Mutabar Khan, Malak Shad Muhammad Khan, Malak Latif, Malak Bashah and others were also present at the occasion. The GOC said that the area people should keep a strict check on Afghan nationals and their camps in the area. He said that Madaris and mosques are holly and religious places and are respectable being a Muslims however some Madaris are supporting terrorists which could not be tolerated.

General Ali Aamir said that the network of the terrorists had been broken and the terrorists were taking their last breathings. He vowed that they would not be allowed to pave and strong their network again. He said that terrorism will be completed defeated and eliminated from the area and country. The GOC lauded the role of VDCs in the Upper Dir said that those committees had defeated terrorists and played a vital role in restoring peace in the district. He said that the Pak army gives honor to those VDCs for their sacrifices for the country and area because many of the volunteers had given their lives in fight against terrorists.

He said that responsibilities of the VDCs volunteers and people of the area had increased in the present circumstances, adding that the area people, Pak army and government should do joint efforts for peace in the area.

The GOC said that the district people should register their small weapons however proclaimed offenders would not be allowed to keep weapons. He warned that non-registered weapons would be seized. The Brigadier Rao Aamir Yaseen also spoke at the occasion. He said that the ongoing operation in the area is against the 189 proclaimed offenders in the district who are wanted to forces, police, levies and other law enforcement agencies. He said that the operation would be continued in the area. The GOC also inaugurated the spring plantation drive by planting tree in the Panakot brigade headquarters.
