K Akmal disheartened over his non-selection in national squad

KARACHI: Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal said that his non-selection for the national squad despite excellent performance in domestic cricket as well as in Pakistan Super League (PSL) has disappointed him, but his family has kept him motivated all the while.

“I think I have done everything – scoring in domestic cricket and now in PSL. It has been disappointing for me since I think I have done everything to be picked for national team. But my family kept me motivating to maintain my performance and I am definitely thankful to them,” Akmal said.

Akmal has produced some impressive performance for Peshawar Zalmi during the ongoing league and has scored lone century of the tournament to help his side beat Karachi Kings to secure a place in final.

He added that he along with his team would put their best to win final against Quetta Gladiators as well.

Zalmi is favourites to win the final since they are coming in the climax with full strength – except Shahid Afridi, who injured his hand during final play-off against Karachi Kings.

But Quetta Gladiators, led by Sarfraz Ahmed, is also a side to reckon and the team would be going in the final with psychological advantage since they have defeated Zalmi in the first play-off to qualify for the summit clash.
