A civil court in Multan Tuesday issued a stay order against a ‘tell-all’ book being launched by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s former wife Reham Khan.
President of PTI lawyers wing Mustafa Chohan in his petition pleaded that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) conspired with Reham Khan and produced the book together with Pakistan’s former envoy to the United States Husain Haqqani to defame the PTI. “Reham is on payroll of the PML-N and that she is carrying out this conspiracy with the help of Husain Haqqani,” the petitioner alleged, and requested the court to ban Reham’s book and stop its publication.
The court, after a briefing hearing, issued notices to Reham, Husain Haqqani and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), seeking their reply by June 9.
PTI members have slammed the journalist’s upcoming book and accused her of secretly meeting with PML-N leaders Maryam and Ahsan Iqbal to cook up conspiracies against Imran Khan. Reham has denied the allegations and defended her authoring the book.
