Two brothers drown in Dadu Canal

SHIKARPUR: Two youths drowned on late Monday in Dadu Canal that flows on the outskirts of Shah Qalipur Village in Lakhi Ghulam Shah Tehsil in the district of Shikarpur.

According to police sources, 20-year-old Shoaib Ahmed and 18-year-old Tanveer Ahmed were brothers, who went into the canal to take bath.

Reportedly, Tanveer tried to rescue his elder brother Shoaib when he was drowning, but both disappeared in deep waters.

Meanwhile, the villagers rushed to the spot and tried to find them.

However, after the lapse of 17 hours, they fished out the body of Shoaib while body of Tanveer could not be found.

The Shoaib’s body was handed over to his heirs after medico-legal formalities were completed at Taluka Headquarters Hospital.

Meanwhile, a team of divers has been engaged to find the body of Tanveer.
