PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that the provincial government has reservations on the constitutional rights of Federal Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) after the merger of Fata in KP.
Addressing a press conference the Chief Minister said that the provincial government welcomes the merger of Fata in KP but if it take five years and after the 2018 election all the administrative authority with Governor then what will be its benefits.
He further said that the provincial government believes in merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and if by mainstreaming, the intent is something different then it should be clearly spelled out, adding that fata reforms committee report clearly suggest merger of Fata in KP.
He further informed that the people of Fata will view any deviation from recommendations as breach of trust. Moreover the word “after five years” create confusion.
He added that the selected MPA of Fata will not utilize funds or participate in legislation while MNA and senators will did it after five years, then what will be the role of Fata MPA? Fata region will be outside the administrative authority of the KP while provincial government will be answerable to Fata which will constitutional anomalies.
Pervez Khattak said that the reforms committee only one time contacted with the provincial government about the merger of Fata in KP, adding that after than no one consult with the provincial government.
He added that Fata Secretariat should be dissolved and a separate cell of Fata should be constituted, adding that KP can face and utilized all the reforms of Fata, adding that there is a system already in the province and we can deal all the things.
He added that soon they will write an application to the Prime Minister about the merger of Fata in KP, adding that Fata should be merged completely in KP like Pata system already exists, adding that they were in favor of Jirga system in Fata.
“There are some claws still prevail in the merger of Fata in KP which should be solved as soon as possible otherwise it will create difficulties for our next generation”, CM added.
Pervez Khattak said that Tomorrow on Tuesday he will visit to Punjab along with his Cabinet to know the situation of Pakhtoons there, adding that why only Pakhtoons were registered in Punjab why not others?, he asked.
The CM also congratulated Peshawar Zalmi for winning the PSL trophy, adding that on coming Thursday all the team of Peshawar Zalmi will be invited in Peshawar and will distributed trophies in the honor of them.
