LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly session was adjourned till today (Tuesday) over lack of quorum on Monday.

The government even failed to start the pre-budget discussion in the House owing to lack of required attendance.

Punjab Assembly’s 27th session was started two hours and 36 minutes late to its scheduled time at 2pm on Monday with Speaker Rana Iqbal in the chair. The House adopted a question hour session about the Communication and Works Department, but Parliamentary Secretary Naeem Insari allegedly failed to answer queries raised by opposition.

Anyhow, opposition members after the adjournment of the session held a press talk and chanted slogans against Sharif brothers outside the assembly building. Opposition Leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed along with other opposition members of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) said that that they would knock at the door of the court against the speaker’s decision on their reference to disqualify Shahbaz Sharif as per the law and the constitution of Pakistan.

Rasheed said that the PML-N government was not serious to run the assembly business He said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif should also join the session to observe legislators and ministers’ absence personally.

Earlier, talking to the media outside the assembly’s building, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that after successful holding of the PSL final, the Panamagate case would also be won by Nawaz Sharif. He; however, said that his party would accept the Supreme Court’s verdict in Panama leaks case.

The minister while congratulating the nation on successful holding of the Pakistan Super League final match in Lahore termed it a big achievement against terrorism and extremism.

When asked if he heard the slogans of ‘Go Nawaz Go’ at the Gaddafi Stadium during the PSL final match, he said some people tried to create trouble in the match but they miserably failed.
