Muslim world urged to play due role in promotion of peace

The International Islamic University Islamabad leadership has called upon the universities of the Muslim world to play due role in dissemination of the message of peace and moderation.

IIUI Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai in his speech at an event titled ‘Moderation and Ramazan’ organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue at the Faisal Masjid Campus, said the universities of the Muslim world must take the responsibility of nurturing youth and grooming them as ambassadors of peace. On the occasion, he also discussed the importance of dialogue in a society.

IIUI President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh said that the university would keep disseminating Islam’s message of peace. He added that brotherhood, peace and harmony are the basis of the Islamic civilization. He said Islam gives message of peace and harmony and “it’s our responsibility to disseminate this message across the globe.” “IIUI is striving hard to serve the Muslim world through promotion of peaceful co-existence and providing quality education to the youth in the light of teachings of Islam blended with moderation,” he said.

Dr Al-Draiweesh called upon the Muslim societies to look into their curricula in the light of Islamic values of moderation and peace and initiate efforts to devise a comprehensive educational policy. He said intellectuals and academicians be brought in to establish a roadmap for a balanced educational curriculum with an ample blend of Islamic teachings.

Earlier, Dr Husn ul Amin welcomed the guests apprised them about the program objectives. A large number of clreics and religious scholars from twin cities besides IIUI VPs, deans, DGs and directors attended the ceremony.
