Over charging and overloading

Author: Daily Times

Sir: I would like to use your newspaper to draw the government’s attention to the criminal behaviour of those operating the public transport system. Conductors on public buses often overload their vehicles, and misbehave with passengers. They also over charge passengers frequently, which leads to arguments and brawls.

I, on the behalf of the public, request the authorities to make them bound to paste the fare list in each vehicle in an easily visible place. The fares must be approved by the transport authorities, who must also discourage over-loading. If bus conductors or drivers are found negligent in the enforcement of these orders, then the authorities should cancel their route permit and impose a heavy fine on them. In this way, both the problems can be tackled.
