KARACHI: Over a dozen Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) lawmakers are willing to join the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP), said PSP Chairman Mustafa Kamal while addressing a press conference on Wednesday.

Talking about Altaf Hussain’s recent video grab in which he was seen dancing, the former Karachi nazim said the MQM supremo was celebrating the recent suicide attacks in the country.

On the occasion, former Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) president Saeed Shafique, surgeon Dr Zubair Mirza, social worker Mubashir Imam and businessman Danish Khan announced to join the PSP.

“These personalities will help in attracting people from different and diverse background to join the PSP,” he said.

The PSP chairman dispelled the impression that the country’s establishment was behind his party. He said, “There are at least 12,000 PSP workers in Karachi. Around 6,000 supporters have joined him from Hyderabad while 2,200 people joined the PSP in Mirpurkhas. Similarly, there are so many people who are willing to join PSP from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These people had not join PSP with the help of our establishment.”

The government should not politicise census as it is a very sensitive issue and those who were trying to create a divide between Sindhis and Muhajirs were enemies of both communities, he concluded.
