According to details, at least 13 teams of the PHC, accompanied by officials of the district administration and police, visited different parts of all districts of the Punjab. They checked 7,854 treatment centres and found 2,725 being run by quacks, which were sealed immediately. From amongst the 7,854 visited as per the census data, 1,907 quacks have quit the business of quackery, and started other businesses.
During the last week only, 484 outlets of quacks were sealed out of the 1,572 treatment centres visited of 13 districts, which included Attock, Rahimyar Khan, Multan, Gujrat, Sialkot, Pakpattan, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh, Sargodha and Lahore. The maximum number of quacks’ businesses were sealed in Kasur, while the remaining prominent districts included Sargodha 48, Faisalabad 47, Muzaffargarh 44, RYK 41, Gujrat 38, Multan 37 and 33 each in Pakpattan and Sialkot.
It is pertinent to mention that so far the PHC has closed more than 12,500 premises of quacks.
