Action ordered against schools who did not hold assessment exams

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan has strictly directed the Chairmen of all Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) to issue show cause notices to all those Educational Institutions who did not take part in the recent 5th Grade Assessment Exam and sought written reply from them. In case of getting non-satisfactory reply, stern action should be taken under the law, he further directed.

He issued these directives while chairing a meeting of the Chairmen of all BISE at Peshawar on Thursday. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary Elementary Education Dr Shahzad Bangash, Special Secretary Qaisar Alam, Chairmen Boards and authorities concerned of the Department. The meeting thoroughly debated upon the 5th Grade Exam, up-coming SSC Exam and steps by BISE for promotion of Sports and certain decision were taken in this respect.

The Minister directed the Chairmen to initiate early steps for eradication of cheating in the up-coming SSC Exam and ensure installation of cameras in each examination hall adding that all examination halls should be linked with the control room of the Boards and Head Office. He further directed that duties of teachers in the exams must be merit based and take action against the Boti Mafia for the future of next generation. Similarly, all matters of the boards must be computerized and get latest and best software for it, he said.

Atif Khan maintained, only conduction of exams was not the responsibility of the Boards but provision of sports facilities to the students was also its mandate. Therefore all Boards take practical steps in this regard and submit its report to proceed further. He declared that all these issues were serious and no lame excuses would be tolerated in this respect.
