Nawaz Sharif’s accusations

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Nawaz Sharif has been quite busy since he was ousted from the Prime Minister’s office. Unfortunately, he has kept himself stuck in a quagmire since then, mostly because of his aggressive attitude with the judiciary and military. He continues to claim the only reason he was disqualified was because of a conspiracy against him by the military and judges. These allegations are completely baseless, and it should not be forgotten that he has been given ample opportunity to prove his innocence.

In fact, his protests have caused the country much damage. All the way from his Mujhay kyun nikala whining to his allegation that a Pakistan based militant group was involved in the Mumbai attacks.

Pakistan and India have been at daggers drawn since partition. Both have been adversaries in several wars, which has pulled them further apart each time. Nonetheless, the Pakistan Army is doing its best to keep the conflict from escalating. General Qamar Javed Bajwa has even invited India to do business with Pakistan and China when the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) takes off. Indian diplomats were also invited to the Pakistan Day parade.

China’s involvement in the region is also good for peace. At present, both countries are members of the SCO, whose article 25 candidly states that the mutual conflicts between member states will be resolved through peaceful negotiations. Furthermore, both countries will participate in military drills in September 2018 along with other member states. The drills are going to be conducted under the umbrella of SCO.

Yet all these amicable measures could be undone by Nawaz Sharif’s false accusations. Furthermore, they have already been proved incorrect by Elias Davidsson in his book — The betrayal of India.

At this crucial point, such statements will lead Nawaz Sharif nowhere. He should refrain from such obscene gestures as they are damaging to the country.
