KHYBER AGENCY: The Khuga Khel tribesmen on Sunday held a demonstration under the banner of Tanzeem-e-Nujawan (youth organisation) at Bacha Square, a market in Landi Kotal against closure of Qaumi Ada, a taxi stand.

They held black flags and banners inscribed with slogans in their favour while chanting full-throat slogans including ‘resume Torkham Taxi Stand’ and ‘expel National Logistic Cell (NLC) from our property’.

While addressing the public gathering, the leaders including Mirajuddin Shinwari, Mufti Ijaz,Zarqeeb Shinwari and others claimed that Torkham Taxi Stand has been suspended by the administration over the last 20 months. “The Khuga Khel tribesmen own the taxi stand, but unfortunately, they were deprived of income of millions over dispute of two contractors,” they remarked. They revealed that they had requested administrative officials repeatedly, but to no avail.

“If our issues are not addressed within two days, we would be left with no choice except to resume our taxi stand and get hold of our property forcibly,” they threatened while marching towards Landi Kotal press club where they dispersed peacefully.
