KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar on Saturday visited the Karachi central jail, while he also examined the food given to prisoners.

Justice Nisar, accompanied by several other judges and government officials, visited the central jail and met prisoners in the cells.

He also tasted the prison food for the purpose of examination, while he also looked into the facilities provided in the jail.

During his visit, several prisoners complained about unfair treatment saying that they were not being set free despite having completed the jail sentence.

CJP assured the prisoners that if they have completed their sentence, they will be set free. He also ordered authorities to present a report on the matter.

Justice Nisar remarked that the facilities provided in Karachi’s jail are better than those in the rest of the provinces.
