KARACHI: The Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) has asked healthcare providers to get registered with the commission and warned of strict action otherwise.
According to the statement issued on Friday, the SHCC can impose a fine extending up to Rs 500,000 upon a quack and on such a medical officer under whose board/ name the quack is practicing.
The SHCC can get his registration cancelled with the relevant council, if any healthcare service provider is found to be practicing quackery.
The SHCC can initiate legal action including lodging of case against defaulter (s).
Under the Sindh Healthcare Commission Act 2013, it has a mandate to register all healthcare providers functioning across Sindh.
Registration with SHCC provides immunity to healthcare provider.
“A healthcare provider who has applied for registration should be aware that the SHCC is allowing registration only for those services for which they are registered with their respective council,” the statement added.
If a healthcare provider is found involved in some other unauthorised practices during inspection, action will be taking against him, the statement concluded.
