KARACHI: Muhajir Qaumi Movement leader Afaq Ahmed on Tuesday said he is not anti-Altaf but he just wants to work for the progress of the Muhajir.

Addressing a press conference at Baitul Hamza, he expressed his grief over the PS-114 result. He said such a decision was not expected from Karachi.

“This all has been done due to our wrong attitude and policies. The mandate of Muhajir should not be divided.”

“If ‘elders’ have any grievances they must share it with us rather than making such decisions.”

He said that that they would start the re-construction of Baitul Hamza from the coming week.

He praised the offer given by Mustafa Kamal to Farooq Sattar for joining hands for unity and called it a better decision.

To a question, he said the re-construction of Baitul Hamza would be done following legal process.

To another question about the National Action Plan, he said, ‘The initiative is not bad but the process through which our innocent people are charged is questionable.” “The Rangers personnel catch our people and hand them over to the police which torture them and files charges.”

To a question related to the JIT report against the Sharifs, he said,” I believe in the supremacy of judiciary and would be satisfied with whatever decision the judiciary will take.”

To yet another question, he said, “I congratulate Saeed Ghani for winning the PS-114 seat, but winning one provincial seat and calling it their great and long-term success is not true. Elections are not that far and we would then display our power by unity,” he concluded.
