LAHORE: Sardar Kamil Omar, a former MNA, and his two brothers on Monday left the PTI and joined the PML-N following a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Omar’s brothers Sardar Adil Umar and Sardar Aqil Umar accompanied him in the meeting.

Before PTI, Omar was affiliated with the PML-Q which he joined after abandoning the Nawaz League during the Musharraf years.

In a statement released to the media after their meeting on Monday, Shahbaz was quoted as saying that in the upcoming elections, the public would pose its trust in those doing politics of public service. “The brothers expressed complete confidence in Shehbaz’s leadership while the PML-N president welcomed them to the party,” the statement said.

With general elections expected in July this year, several politicians have switched loyalties, and more are likely to jump ship in days to come.
