Six devotees die from heatstroke at Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Urs

DADU: At least six devotees of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar died on the first two days of three-day 766th annual Urs celebration which commenced Saturday at Sehwan city.

According to a report, 13-year-old Qasim Ali and 40-year-old wife of Ghaffar died on Sunday from heatstroke.

According to an official of Syed Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical Sciences, Wasim Ahmed revealed that at least twelve other devotees were hospitalised for treatment at the institute.

Moreover, four devotees died on Saturday, three of them were unidentified and their bodies were shifted to Edhi Centre in Sehwan city. However, the identified Mohammad Ashraf was a resident of Faisalabad, whose body was sent to his family.

While talking to Daily Times, Edhi Centre In-Charge Ghulam Sarwar said that they fell unconscious as the mercury shot to 50 degree Celsius resulting scorching heat in the region.
