QUETTA: Death toll rises to 23 as two coal mines collapsed in the vicinity of Quetta on Saturday.
According to reports on Sunday, 23 coal miners were killed, while several others remain trapped under the rubble of a mine in Pir Ismail.
The rescue officials said that the trapped miners will be evacuated as soon as the airway is cleared. However, there was “very low probability of their survival.”
Quetta Police Commissioner Javed Anwar Shahwani said that 23 individuals were working in the mine when the incident happened.
However, according to Chief Inspector Maiz Iftikhar Ahmed, there were a total of 30 miners, of which 16 were pronounced dead.
