LAHORE: At least 4,700 nurses are being recruited through Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) who would join the department very soon.
The induction of a big number of nurses would help in overcoming the shortage of nurses in the hospitals and it would further improve healthcare services. Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Salman Rafique stated this while addressing the video link conference of all the heads of medical educational institutions and the teaching hospitals of the province on Friday.
He directed that all the heads of teaching hospitals should immediately complete the arrangements of providing safe drinking water for patients and their attendants as a third party validation would commence from next week and in case of any negligence, the head of the institution would be held responsible.
Specialised Healthcare Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah disclosed that the department has sent requisition for the recruitment of medical officers/women medical officers to PPSC and there is no ban on the recruitment through PPSC.
