PM Abbasi vows to include FATA in national mainstream this month

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday said that the ruling government will finalise the process of including FATA in the national mainstream during this month (May).

“We will hold meetings with opposition parties, take them into confidence over the matter and will finalise the process of including FATA in the national mainstream,” PM Abbasi said while addressing a National Assembly session.

The premier added that some decisions have been made regarding the FATA reforms today (Wednesday), while the time frame for implementation of the reforms will only be decided after holding talks with the country’s political bigwigs.

“We hope that the implementation of the FATA reforms will take place during our tenure,” PM Abbasi added.

He also highlighted the significance of the reforms to the people of the region saying that the FATA reforms “are a need of the people living there” and urged political parties to join hands for the purpose.

PM Abbasi added that for the development of FATA, funds worth Rs 1 trillion will be accumulated.
