‘Boycott Murree’ trends on social media following mistreatment of tourists

LAHORE: A social media campaign titled ‘Boycott Murree’ was launched on Tuesday after several tourists were mistreated by local hotel agents, hoteliers and transporters.

According to details, the campaigners alleged that the local hotel agents, hoteliers and transporters were overcharging and were providing poor facilities.

It was also claimed that the agents and hoteliers beat up tourists for protesting over the behaviour. The campaign was launched after videos of tourists getting beaten up surfaced across the internet.

People took to Twitter to campaign for boycotting Murree until the authorities take necessary counter measures.

Hafiz Javed Akhtar Abbasi, president Hotels’ Association, Saleem Akbar Abbasi, president Citizens’ Forum, Haji Shifaul Haq, president Anjuman-i-Tajiran among others requested senior officials of the Murree police force to take measures against unregistered agents and those involved in such malpractices.
