Two injured in a gas cylinder blast near OLT station

LAHORE: Two people were injured in a gas cylinder blast near Orange Line Train (OLT) station in Ghari Shahu Coop store on Tuesday.

The huge explosion sparked panic and terror among the locals, passersby as well as labourers who were working near OLT station #9. The mirrors of the newly constructed station and nearby houses also broke. Upon being informed, a heavy contingent of Special Protection Unit, police, forensic department and other law enforcers also reached the spot and started the rescue operation.

The police and rescuers said that initially, the incident seemed as a gas cylinder blast but even then the police started investigation procedure keeping different reasons in mind. They added that two citizens received minor injuries in this incident and were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Separately, a 27-year-old security guard of a private housing society was shot dead by unknown persons over some minor issue in Khana police limits on Tuesday.

The deceased identified as Sohail Khokhar, resident of Ladoki Khana was on his way along with his mother on a bike when some unidentified assailants fired shots at him. The unknown persons easily managed to escape from the crime scene. Upon being informed, police and rescuers reached the spot and shifted the injured to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

The police said that the family members told police that a clash occurred between Sohail and a local over a theft issue. However, the police started investigation on the issue at all angles and shifted the dead body to city mortuary for autopsy.
