The meeting was chaired by SALUTA President Prof Dr Amir Ali Chandio.
The meeting also analysed the proposed solutions. The EC thanked Vice-chancellor for accepting the mistake of the registrar who recorded incorrect minutes of the meeting.
The meeting unanimously reiterated to strive for the implementation of the agreement in letter and spirit.
The meeting decided to approach chief minister secretariat to oust ‘illegal’ registrar from his post as he was appointed as professor.
The EC appreciated formation of committee that would improve governance in the campus particularly in examination and finance departments.
The EC also condemned the inefficiency and non-productivity of office of research, innovation and commercialization (ORIC), Sachal Chair, quality enhancements cell (QEC) and other departments.
The meeting expressed concerns on violation of the code of conduct by the faculty members. Junior or non-PhD holders were appointed as heads of the departments of teacher education, sindhi and Islamic studies while PhD holders were neglected. It was decided that the faculty of social sciences would temporarily administer the matter of department of teacher education. The meeting decided to visit all the departments of the university starting from May 3, to resolve the complaints. Furthermore, the EC undertook the cases of faculty members for the fixation of salaries.
The EC demanded health insurance policy for all employees of the university and increase in M.Phil allowance, remunerations and examination allowance.
The meeting urged to fasten the development of the housing society. It was suggested to hold regular meeting of departments including senate, syndicate, academic council and board of advanced studies.
A warning was issued to the administration to avoid pressurising faculty members who were demanding good governance in the university.
The advertisement of teaching vacancies would be published as soon as possible.
The meeting demanded to complete the project “Strengthening of Academic Facilities at SALUTA” as soon as possible to provide academic and research environment to the PhD holders, who returned from abroad recently, so they may continue research activities.
The EC condemned the discrimination by the administration towards the faculty members as a female member was restricted to install air-condition at her room while a lower-level employee was granted permission.
The EC considered welfare fund as a legitimate right of the faculty members, hence previous signatories would sign the cheques till a new body takes charge and GP fund would be granted every three months.
Finally, the EC decided to organise a “Stop Corruption-Save University” rally on May 12, 2018 at Sukkur with the support of civil society.
