Three people were killed and two received injuries when unidentified armed men riding a motorbike, opened fire on them at Jan Muhammad Road, Quetta on Sunday.

According to initial reports, the armed men opened fire on five different shops, killing Ali Khan, Muhammad Waqas and Shabir Ahmed on the spot.

The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital.

The incident could be termed as sectarian killing. This is the eighth reported sectarian attack in Quetta during the current month.

On Saturday, two people from the Hazara community were shot dead by unknown assailants on Jamaluddin Afghani Road, Quetta.

On Friday, the brother of a prayer leader was targeted on Toghi Road in the city.

On April 22, two people belonging from the Hazara community were shot dead by unidentified armed men near Western Bypass Road, Quetta.

On April 18, a shopkeeper, also from the Hazara community was killed by unidentified armed men on Abdul Sattar Road, Quetta.

Only three days earlier, two members from the Christian community were gunned down near a church by unidentified armed men riding a motorbike at Essa Nagri area of Quetta.

Previously, on April 2, four other members of Christian community were gunned down on Shah Zaman Road.

Early this month on April 1, an unidentified man killed a taxi driver in a crowded bazaar of the city. Resultantly, that taxi drivers from the Hazara community staged a sit-in protest for one week against failure of provincial government for not providing safety to their community members.
