CJP to hear cases at SC’s Lahore registry

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will head a three-member Supreme Court bench at its Lahore registry and hear dozens of cases of different nature on Monday (today).

The bench includes Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan. Another bench comprising Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah will also hear cases at the Lahore registry on Monday. Both the benches will be available at Supreme Court’s Islamabad registry from Wednesday to Friday.

On Monday, a three-member bench comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Faisal Arab will hear dozens of cases, including human rights cases in Islamabad. A three-member bench comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmad, Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah will sit at Supreme Court’s Karachi registry on Monday.

From Wednesday to Friday, Supreme Court’s seven benches will hear hundreds of cases in Islamabad. The court will hear dozens of high profile cases during the week including memogate scam, contempt of court cases against Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and Privatization Minister Daniyal Aziz, a pending contempt of court petition of former minister for defence and PML-N leader Khawaja Asif against the authorities concerned for not allowing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif to return to Pakistan from exile despite court orders and review petitions of those who were disqualified for holding dual nationalities.
